My friend Sean and I were talking about a company we both know and he told me, “scale is a problem they want to have.” He was so right.

It’s really easy to get excited about an idea, plan your glorious future and only want to invest in building for scale. Scale is a problem you want to have, not one most new businesses or products have.

Here are other things you should focus on and invest in:

  • Who is the customer?
  • What is their problem?
  • How am I solving it?
  • How can I monetize the solution?
  • How do I go to market?
  • How can I reach new customers?

When you got all these and demand is starting to grow in a scary direction. Then scale is a problem you have and it’s a good problem.
